WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – There’s no need for D.C. area residents to travel far and wide to celebrate the best of St. Paddy’s Day events. From D.C., Maryland and Virginia, there’s sure to be a holiday-themed event in your neck of the woods, whether you want to drink and be merry or just soak up some culture.
Check out these events happening around town on Sunday:
Washington, DC Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
The Saint Patrick’s Day celebration is still going strong! A parade in celebration of the Irish will go along Constitution Avenue and will have it all: floats, pipe bands and a marching band. Check it out Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
Kennedy Center Millennium Dance
Learn how to get down like the Irish at the Kennedy Center Millennium stage. Students will showcase their traditional Irish dance moves Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
Gems & Minerals Expo
If you have a thing for fine gems and minerals, there will be over 20 dealers and 40 exhibits at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Persian New Year Celebration
Discover more than 3,000 years of old traditions at the Persian New Year (Nowruz) Celebration with music, dance, group performances, and costumed characters, along with a Persian Bazaar offering exotic food, goods, arts and more, Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
D.C. Environmental Film Festival
The D.C. Environmental Film Festival began this week and will be bringing you all kinds of films throughout the DC area. Most films are free.
Gaithersburg Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Check out the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade in Gaithersburg for a lot of tradition with everything from pipe bands to equestrian units, beginning at 10 a.m.
