LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 1-year-old boy was killed and his father injured after they were struck by a pickup truck Thursday in Temple Hills, police said.
A Prince George’s County police spokesperson said the man, his wife and their 1-year-old son in a stroller were walking on the sidewalk in the 5100 block of westbound St. Barnabas Road just after 5 p.m. when a blue pickup truck jumped the curb and struck the man and young boy. The woman was not hit by the truck.
Police said both the infant, identified as Sherrik Farmer of Oxon Hill, and his father were transported to a local hospital, where Farmer later died. The boy’s father suffered two broken legs and his mother, though not physically injured, was treated for shock.
Police said the driver of the truck remained on the scene after the accident and is cooperating with investigators.
