LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Free agent return specialist Brandon Banks is drawing “significant interest” from a number of NFL teams according to a league source.

Unsurprisingly, the source adds Banks will not return to the Washington Redskins for a fourth season.

Washington re-signed five of six restricted free agents this offseason with Kansas State product being the odd man out.

Banks, 25, burst onto the scene in 2010, having made the roster as an undrafted, undersized free agent thanks to a strong performance in the preseason.

The 5-foot-7, 153-pound North Carolina native averaged 11.3 yards on punt returns and 25.1 yards on kick returns as a rookie. The only regular season touchdown of his career came in Week 10 against the Detroit Lions when he found pay dirt on a 96-yard kickoff return.

Prior to last season, Mike Shanahan informed Banks he would need to make the team more as a wide receiver rather than just a returner.

He would make the 53-man roster, but was benched in Week 14 due to a lack of production and continuing fumble issues and would not play again.
