JESSUP, Md. (CBSDC) — Police are hunting for an armed person who they believe targeted a family and broke into their Jessup, Maryland home early Wednesday morning.
The family was awakened by loud pounding as the intruder forced their way into the home around 2:20 a.m. The three adults and two teenage girls locked themselves into an upstairs bedroom, WNEW’s John Domen reports.
A woman called 911 and remained on the line throughout the ordeal, authorities say. Police arrived and made entry to the home within minutes of receiving the call.
Police say there is evidence of a forced entry at the front door.
The family was not taken hostage during the invasion.
Police say shots may have been fired during the robbery attempt.
The intruder fled the scene, but authorities do not feel the public is in danger.
