LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Vice President Joe Biden visited the Alexandria Police Department on Friday to show support for officer Peter Laboy, who is recovering after being shot in the head last month.
Biden met with Laboy’s Motor Unit to express his condolences and wish him well, according to the department’s Facebook page. The vice president also met with police and city personnel who were on the scene and involved the day Laboy was shot. He thanked them for a job well done and their service to the community.
Laboy was shot in the head during a routine traffic stop Feb. 27 in Old Town Alexandria.
Doctors have said Laboy is very lucky to be alive and his progress continues to amaze medical professionals, fellow officers, friends and family. Several fundraisers already have begun raising money to help the Laboys during his recovery.
