LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A 79-year-old Leonardtown man was killed by a tractor while working on a farm Sunday.

The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations says responding officers found Robert T. Jarboe lying underneath the farm tractor. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say it appears that Jarboe either got off or fell from the tractor while it was in gear. He was subsequently struck.

His body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.
