(LANHAM, Md.) — Donald Trump has offered to foot the bill for White House tours that were halted as an effect of sequestration.
“It sounds reasonable to me. Why not?” said Trump during a weekly call on “Fox and Friends.”
The idea came from Newt Gingrich, who tweeted:
Donald trump should offer to pay for the white house tours. He can afford it and it would show who cares more for American students—

The business mogul continued to say that closing the White House is a ploy by the Obama administration and that the money to run the tours is insignificant in the scheme of things.
“It’s always been that simple, and it’s always been open,” said Trump. “It’s certainly not a lot of money … we have $17 trillion in debt. Closing the White House tours is not exactly the biggest thing on the agenda.”

So just how much would it cost to run the White House tours? According to “Fox and Friends” guest host Eric Bolling and CNN, the bill would total about $74,000 per week or $2 million over the next seven months.
