(WASHINGTON) — A Cambria Suites hotel will soon be part of the D.C. skyline as construction begins Monday.

Choice Hotels International along with Concord Hospitality are hosting a “sky breaking” event to mark the beginning of construction on top of a newly created retail space, CityMarket at O, in Northwest.

The hotel will bring an estimated 300 jobs to the D.C. area and will feature 182 rooms, rooftop pool and views of the Capitol and monuments.

The construction is part of a larger project that will encompass a one-million square foot space next to the D.C. Convention Center.

The hotel is expected to open in 2014.

Cambria Suites is an emerging brand that has locations under construction in New York, Miami, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Plano, Texas.
