LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A Stevensville woman has been missing since Friday and her 11-year-old Great Dane was found dead near a pier at a neighboring home Saturday.
Robin Pope, 51, was last seen on Friday night in the 100 block of Beach Road. She had lived in a home there with her husband until December, when they separated.
Pope’s husband reported her missing to the county Sheriff’s Office Saturday. He said she had come to pick up some belongings Friday night. He left, and when he came back, she was not there. Her car, however, was still in the driveway.
The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office searched the Chesapeake Bay behind the home with a sonar-equipped boat Saturday and the Maryland State Police Underwater Recovery Team divers searched the water behind the home for about six hours Sunday. An aerial search was conducted by a State Police helicopter. Ground searches were conducted by Natural Resources Police cadaver dogs.
Police are continuing to investigate. Police are urging anyone with information about Pope, a 5-foot-4, 105-pound white female with brown hair, to contact them at 410-758-1101.
A veterinarian has said the dog did not die from external injuries.
