LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Heavy rains and strong winds caused power outages throughout the D.C. metro area Tuesday night.
A fault on a transmission line knocked out power to almost 3,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers in Northern Virginia just before 10 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the utility. The outage number was down to a little more than 2,000 customers in the dark as of 10:30 p.m.
Baltimore Gas & Electric was reporting more than 350 customers without power and Pepco had less than 100 customers without power in both Montgomery and Prince George’s counties.
A circuit breaker malfunction in Temple Hills earlier Tuesday evening left about 1,000 Pepco customers without power in southern Prince George’s County, according to a Pepco spokesperson.
Check with CBSDC’s Washington area power outages for up-to-the-minute outage information.
