LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A man in the District was hit by a car while riding his bike Monday morning and is now in critical condition.

The collision took place shortly before 6:20 a.m., near the intersection of Sixth Street and Maryland Avenue. The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene.

The 600 block of Maryland Avenue remains closed in both directions because of the accident.
