LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — An accident involving a school bus and three cars sent seven children and five adults to the hospital early Friday afternoon.
Montgomery County police and rescue personnel responded to a call at about 1:15 p.m. for a multi-vehicle accident near the intersection of Clopper and Game Preserve roads in Gaithersburg.
Clopper Road is closed in both directions between Game Preserve and Waring Station roads as police investigate the scene.
The accident involved a Montgomery County Public Schools bus, which was carrying seven special needs students, and three other cars, according to police.
An adult male who was driving an SUV involved in the crash was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
All seven students on the bus were transported to the hospital for precautionary evaluations.
Four other adults — two from cars involved in the crash, and two from the bus — also were transported to the hospital for precautionary evaluations.
The bus, which was travelling from Clopper Mill Elementary School, did not cause the accident but collided with another car involved in the accident, police said.
Clopper Mill Elementary School dismissed early Friday due to a planned teach work day, an MCPS spokesman said.
