(LANHAM, Md.) – UPDATE: Dominion Power says all power has been restored to the Mt. Vernon area after an early morning car accident took down power lines.
The accident left more than 1,300 people without power in Farifax, Va. Sunday.
A car struck three power poles near Mt. Vernon highway this morning, closing the road and causing downed power lines.
Dominion Power originally said power would be restored by 7 p.m. but have since moved that time frame up to 5 p.m.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
