D.C. Man Gets More Than 12 Years for Burglary
WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for burglarizing a home last summer.
Shawn A. Thomas was sentenced in D.C. Superior Court on Friday after being convicted two months ago of charges including burglary, theft and receiving stolen property.
Prosecutors say Thomas was part of a group of intruders who broke into a northwest Washington home last August by throwing a rock through a window.
Prosecutors say a man who had just moved into the house a few days earlier was home during the burglary, and barricaded himself inside the bathroom and called 911.
When police arrived, they found Thomas in a car outside, with items including a DVD player, cordless telephones and jewelry in the back seat of the vehicle.
