WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — An overturned rice truck in D.C. snarled traffic early Friday afternoon heading into the long holiday weekend.
The truck tipped over just after 2 p.m. Friday on the outbound 11th Street Bridge ramp leading to Interstate 295 northbound, closing the bridge to northbound traffic for more than three hours.
D.C. Department of Public Works lifted the truck back on its wheels at about 4:45 p.m., and the truck was towed off of the bridge just after 5:30 p.m.
The driver of the truck told WNEW’s Cameron Thompson that he was cut off and struck the barrier. That caused the payload to shift, resulting in the tip over.
The truck landed on the passenger’s side, with the passenger’s window shattering. The driver wasn’t hurt and there were no other injuries.
