When World’s Hottest Girl Meets Most Awkward Guy in Radio
At the ripe young age of 20, Kate Upton has the world at her finger tips. All 5-feet-10-inches of her.
Gracing the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue the second time in two years – the first to go back-to-back solo since Elle Macpherson in 1987 – Upton has the nation captivated and the ability to get anything she wants.
Anything … except the ability to avoid an awkward interview with 106.7 The Fan’s Holden and Danny.
On to promote the 2013 release of the Swimsuit Issue – scheduled to be unveiled Monday on CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” – one of the world’s most beautiful girls was smothered with Danny’s clumsy grasp of the English language when around women, right out of the gate.
In the off-chance you’ve been waiting your entire life for a confident versus “wilting kid in the corner of the room” guide on how to talk to women, this interview offers that in the first ten seconds.
Below is the side-by-side comparison:
Holden: “Hi Kate, my name is Holden. How are you?”
Danny: “Heyyyy…huh…Kate. How’s it going?”
Uncomfortable, maybe even terrified of what’s to come response.
While seemingly trying to aid his friend and co-host, Holden may have made the swimsuit goddess more frantic when he informed her Danny was so nervous he was shaking.
Danny, of course, rushed to his own aid by explaining he’d had too much coffee (hot chocolate?), which unfortunately for him, came off as piling on…to himself.
“Alright, so he’s going to take some deep breaths,” Holden jumped in. “I’ll start the questioning here, because you’ve been doing these for a long time. I know you’re at a lot of these parties, I wonder what you’re going to do for your 21st birthday? You got anything special planned?”
“I have no idea,” Upton responded. “I haven’t even thought of it yet. I hope somebody else plans it for me.”
That would be the last serious question of the interview.
“Kate, what’s your favorite breakfast cereal?” Danny asked.
“Breakfast cereal? Ummmm…grapenuts,” Upton responded.
“I guess you have that in common with my grandparents,” Danny said, although no one really understands why.
Some other highlights – although the entire interview is rich with them – include:
- Danny asking Kate Upton what the biggest mistake of her life was
- Danny being bullied by both Kate and Holden into doing a Yoda impression
- Holden asking Kate why she doesn’t show her behind more, Kate getting upset, then Holden and Danny buying time until the interview’s conclusion
You really should hear this if you haven’t yet.
