WASHINGTON — Police say a 94-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a car while crossing in a crosswalk in northwest Washington.
Police say the accident happened Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Police say the driver of a 2001 Dodge Ram was making a right turn when she struck 94-year-old Aidah Sabir-Jenkins of Washington. Sabir-Jenkins was taken to a hospital where she died.
The driver of the Dodge Ram stayed on the scene and was cited by police. Police did not identify the driver of the vehicle.
