Arrest Made After October Shooting in DC

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)– An early Saturday morning traffic stop in the District led to an arrest in connection with an October shooting death in Southeast.

Shortly before 3 a.m., 21-year-old Demonte Michael Chappelle, of Southwest, was taken into custody by the First District Patrol Division of the Metropolitan Police Department and charged with the murder of 26-year-old Stevann Moorer.

On Oct. 27, at approximately 9:08 pm, a Seventh District unit was dispatched to the 500 block of Parkland Place. Officers found Moorer suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
