LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A 2-year-old boy was flown to a local trauma center after suffering severe burn injuries Tuesday night, Montgomery County police said.

County fire and rescue personnel responded to a call at about 6:30 p.m. to the 21000 block of Golf Estates Drive in Laytonsville where they found a 2-year-old boy who drank from a hot cup of coffee and severely burned himself.

The boy was flown to a local burn center and is in serious condition.
