WASHINGTON — Metro says it is starting to replace three elevators at the Pentagon station on the yellow and blue line.
Metro says the replacement project begins Monday. Three of the six escalators at the station will be removed during the renovation. The escalators are 18 years old, and the company that makes them stopped producing escalators and parts several years ago. Metro says rehabilitating the escalators isn’t practical or cost effective.
The escalators that are being replaced are on the station’s south side. Customers will still be able to enter and exit the station using three elevators on the north side.
