LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- The speed limit on the Intercounty Connector will soon increase from 55 to 60 miles per hour, the Maryland Transportation Authority announced Monday.
The MDTA began an engineering study on the roadway in mid-2012 and but needed a full year of operation to conclude that raising the speed limit would be safe. Also taken into account were the results of a one-year crash analysis. Both are available at mdta.maryland.gov.
The administration anticipates that the new speed limit will become effective by March 31. New warning signs for curves will also be added.
