BALTIMORE — Call it monkeying around, but two zoos now have a small stake in the outcome of the Super Bowl after a bet that’s a little wild.
The leaders of The Maryland Zoo and The San Francisco Zoological Gardens made the wager Wednesday evening.
Baltimore’s Maryland Zoo, which is home to the Ravens’ official mascots, Rise and Conquer, says if the San Francisco 49ers win the Super Bowl, it will rename the ravens’ enclosure the “San Francisco 49ers exhibit.”
In exchange, if the Ravens win, the San Francisco zoo has agreed to re-name the enclosure of its black rhino “Boone,” who is named after the 49ers offensive tackle Alex Boone, in honor of the Ravens.
The re-namings would each last for a month beginning Feb. 11.
