LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Police in Prince William County are investigating a possible fatal hit and run accident.

Police responded to a call at about 10:23 a.m. Thursday to the 18400 block of Woodland Drive in Triangle for an unconscious adult male lying in the road. The man, identified by police as Joseph Patrick Lyons, 59, of Triangle, was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

Police believe Lyons was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle. No vehicle was on the scene when police arrived.

There is no information on the striking vehicle, police said.
