ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Sentencing for suspended Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold has been set for March.
Judge Dennis Sweeney, a circuit court judge, scheduled sentencing for March 14 in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court.
Sweeney found Leopold guilty on two counts of misconduct in office on Tuesday. One of those counts related to Leopold using his security detail to perform political activities while on the job. The other involved making a secretary and members of his detail empty his urine catheter bag for months in 2010.
Leopold, a two-term Republican, has been suspended as county executive as a result of the judge’s finding. John Hammond, the county’s chief administrative officer, has been named acting county executive.
