LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A downed tree on the tracks of the Brunswick MARC line has resulted in the cancellation of three westbound evening trains.
MARC spokesman Terry Owens said three trains carrying about 800 people were affected Thursday morning by the tree, which fell near the Washington Grove station as a result of Wednesday evening’s wind and rain storms. Passengers were taken back to Gaithersburg, where they were bused to Shady Grove. Owens said the reason for the evening cancellations is that crews and equipment that got delayed in the morning never made it into D.C.
Trains 875, 879 and 895, which usually depart from Union Station at 4:25 p.m., 5:40 p.m. and 6:40 p.m., respectively, will not operate Thursday.
Train 877, which leaves Union Station at 4:55 p.m., will operate through to Martinsburg, W. Va., and Train 881 will make all stops between Washington and Martinsburg.
