BALTIMORE — Baltimore police are bringing in extra officers, camera monitors and administrative staff to try to keep the city safe on Super Bowl Sunday.

Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says police are prepared for fans to celebrate, but will be on the alert for anyone who crosses the line and puts people at risk of getting hurt.

Additional officers will be deployed in Canton, Fells Point and Federal Hill. There will be many street closures in those areas, starting at halftime, to keep pedestrians safe. That means anyone planning on watching the game in the city should come into town early, because it will be difficult to drive to those neighborhoods in the evening.

Police will also have extra staff at headquarters to monitor feeds from stationary and helicopter cameras.
