The Washington Redskins may have to do without their most tenured coach next season.
Sources tell Dan Hellie of NBC 4 that long-time special teams coordinator for the Redskins, Danny Smith, has taken a job with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Monday, Mike Shanahan reportedly gave the Steelers permission to interview Smith, a Pittsburgh native.
He’s outlasted two head coaches in Washington – Gibbs and Zorn – as a member of the Redskins coaching staff since 2004.
