WESTMINSTER, Md. — The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office says a pilot escaped injury when his homemade helicopter struck a power line and went down in a field in Westminster.
It happened about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday. Deputies say the aircraft, flown by 58-year-old Amirkhanian Shahram of Silver Spring struck the power line and crashed.
Deputies say Shahram had no apparent injuries. The aircraft was heavily damaged and was taken to a secure site for examination by the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration.
