LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)– Could there ever be a more “Maryland” beverage than Natural Bohemian beer? A new vodka may give Mr. Boh a run for his money.
Flavored with “Traditional Chesapeake Bay Seasoning” (think Old Bay), the novelty liquor won’t be available in time for your Super Bowl party, but it will be on the market soon.
On Wednesday, Hank’s Oyster Bar mixologist Gina Chersevani tweeted a picture of the new product from Philadelphia Distilling, the maker of Bluecoat Gin and Shine Whiskey. It’s called “The Bay,” and, of course, the label has a crab on it.
Chersevani, who is friends with one of the distillery owners, said she is planning a competition in which local bartenders will pit cocktails made with the vodka against each other. The challenge will be held at Union Market on Feb. 27 and attendees will be allowed to sample drinks.
The Bay will be available for general sale by mid-March.
“It is amazing,” Chersevani said.
