LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A winter weather advisory for much of the D.C. region has been extended until 11 a.m.
In Maryland, Frederick, Carroll, Baltimore, Montgomery, Howard, Prince George’s and Anne Arundel counties are likely to be affected. In Virginia, the National Weather Service expects that Loudoun, Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington, Stafford, Spotsylvania and Faquier counties will see snow.
About an inch of accumulation is expected in the mentioned areas.
In D.C., the District Snow Team deployed about 190 plows and pre-treated streets, bridges and other surfaces Wednesday night to prevent snow from sticking.
The director of the city’s Department of Public Works said roadway temperatures are already below freezing due to several days of extreme cold, so snow is likely to still be on the ground during the Thursday morning commute.
