LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) – All Dominion Electric customers in the Dumfries area have had power restored after a vehicle crash at U.S. 1 and Old Stage Coach Road knocked it out for about two hours Wednesday.

Dominion confirmed to All-News 99.1 WNEW that a car struck a utility pole at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Old Stage Coach Road at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, knocking out power to about 4,800 customers, including Dumfries Elementary School.

Restoration efforts narrowed that number to about 1,500 within an hour and a half. Workers a short time later reconstructed the pole that was struck to restore power to the remaining customers.
