McHENRY, Md. (CBSDC/AP)— The Garrett County sheriff’s office says a Rockville man was killed in an accident at the Wisp ski resort over the weekend.
According to police, 40-year-old James Jung-Jin Park lost control and ran into trees while skiing on a run known as the Squirrel Cage with two friends Saturday morning. He was pronounced dead at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Wisp is Maryland’s only ski resort. The resort announced in December that it had emerged from bankruptcy protection under a new management firm. The previous owners filed for bankruptcy protection after defaulting on loans to build a golf course community near the ski hill. That project was sold to another party during bankruptcy proceedings.
