RICHMOND, Va. — Need help preparing for a disaster in Virginia? There’s an app for that.
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has developed the free Ready Virginia mobile app that provides emergency planning and preparedness guidance. It also provides location-specific weather warnings, disaster news, shelter and evacuation locations and local emergency management information, among other features.
Gov. Bob McDonnell called the app one of the most important ones for Virginians to install on their cell phones or tablets. It’s available in the Apple Store or Google Play.
The department also has launched a mobile version of its website at m.vaemergency.gov. The mobile site contains all the information that can be found on the department’s regular website.
