LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC)- A two-car accident that caused traffic delays along Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly on Monday was caused when two cars collided head-on, Fairfax County police said.
The accident, which occurred just before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Pleasant Valley and Braddock roads, closed Pleasant Valley Road between Braddock Road and Jillians Forest Way for several hours as policed investigated the crash.
Police said a Ford Escort driven by a 24-year-old Gainesville woman crossed the median and struck a Toyota Corolla driven by a 57-year-old Centreville person.
Six people, including one child, were injured in the crash, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. All were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital — two by helicopter — with serious injuries.
Five of the victims are in critical condition but emergency personnel are unsure about the condition of the sixth person.
