The Junkies broadcast live from Kettler Iceplex Monday morning during the Capitals abbreviated training camp. First-year head coach Adam Oates stopped by to offer his expectations for the team this season.
Oates said that with the team’s speed and skating ability, he plans to take advantage of that. However, the former Caps player-turned-coach said he will not sell out, trying bet the farm on outscoring the team’s opponents.
He made that clear after his first meeting with the squad.
“The first line of my meeting yesterday is, ‘We’re playing defense.’ but defense leads to offense and when it’s our turn, we go,” Oates said.
