LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Four days after the Washington Redskins suffered a grimacing playoff loss, Mayor Vincent Gray is honoring his bet and flying a Seattle flag in the District.
Prior to last Sunday’s contest against the Seahawks, Gray and the Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn bet the losing team must fly the victor’s flag over his city’s city hall for a day.
At the time, Gray said he was confident it will be Seattle flying Washington’s flag, citing the fact the Seahawks had not won a road playoff game since 1983.
However, he clearly overlooked the fact the Redskins lost their last two playoff appearances against the Seahawks in 2005 and 2007. This go around proved to be no different and Seattle’s green flag is flying high.
DC is good on its word. Raising the Seattle city flag over the Wilson Building today. @mayormcginn http://t.co/I4k8jwzn—
