NORTH EAST, Md.(CBSDC/AP)— Two highway workers who were killed when a car hit them in a Cecil County work zone Wednesday morning were from the D.C. area, according to Maryland State Police.

It happened around 9 a.m. on Pulaski Highway. Troopers say a car entered a work zone, which was marked with orange traffic cones, and struck the two workers.

The men, who were pronounced dead at the scene, were identified as 42-year-old Luis Tadeo of Bowie and 41-year-old Victor D. Jackson of the District.

Police say the driver was not hurt.

The name of the driver has not been released. The accident is under investigation.
