CLINTON, Md. (CBSDC) – Investigators are looking into what caused a vacant home in Prince George’s County to go up in flames Tuesday evening.

Firefighters responded to the fire at a two-story single family home in the 8200 block of Student Drive in Clinton around 6:15 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

Prince George’s County Fire says they were forced to battle the blaze from the safety of the exterior as the well advanced flames had already engulfed the entire roof upon arrival.

It took 35 firefighters nearly 30 minutes to extinguish the flames in the unoccupied home.

There were no injuries.

Damages to the home were estimated to be nearly $300,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
