WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in a sexual assault that occurred in Southeast.

Police say on Saturday evening, a woman was walking on Southern Avenue when she was offered a ride by a man. The woman got into the car, and police say the man produced a handgun and sexually assaulted the woman.

The woman was able to escape from the car and car police.

Fifty-two-year-old Geary McCall of Washington was arrested and charged with sexual assault while armed.
