Mayor Vincent Gray Rallies Support for More Police

(LANHAM, Md.) — D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray plans to use a recent Capitol Hill murder to rally support for a proposal to hire more police.

The Washington Post is reporting that Gray is planning to use the Christmas Eve killing of Jason Emma as one example for why extra police are needed.

28-year-old Emma was shot and killed while sitting in his car outside of his row home. Police are saying robbery may be the only motive.

Gray brought the plan before the D.C. City Council before, but was rejected December 18th.

Gray’s plan, if approved, would put approximately 100 new police officers in neighborhoods.
