SPRINGFIELD, Va. (CBSDC) -  Police have released the names of the three people that died in the Capital Beltway crash Thursday evening.

The victims are identified as 87-year-old Peter Stesney, 85-year-old Bernice Supinski and 51-year-old Laura Kordelski. Police say the three were related and heading to Florida for a relative’s funeral.

Virginia State police were called to the scene on the I-495 westbound flyover ramp leading to southbound I-95 when the deadly crash occurred at 7:03 p.m.

Police say a tractor-trailer was stopped for traffic in the travel lane when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck.

Stesney, the driver of the pickup and the two passengers died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the crash.

A reconstruction team arrived on the scene to assist with the investigation.

The exact cause of the crash has yet to be determined.

The I-495 flyover ramp toward southbound I-95 was closed for 8 hours.
