GREENBELT, Md. (CBSDC) - Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in the midst of a wintry mix in Prince George’s County Wednesday afternoon.
Prince George’s County Fire says the blaze broke out in the three-story Franklin Park apartment complex located in the 9100 block of Edmonston Terrace in Greenbelt around 4:30 p.m.
Spokesperson Mark Brady said the heavy fire had already spread to two floors of the garden-style apartment building by the time units responded, and extended through the roof.
One person had to be rescued from a top floor unit.
It took 50 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze that officials believe was caused by a malfunctioning furnace.
Damages are estimated to be around $250,000.
No one was injured.
