ASHBURN, VA (CBSDC)–Robert Griffin III and the rest of the Washington Redskins had their first practice today as they prepare to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football for the NFC East title.

“This is the biggest stage,”  Robert Griffin III said.  “We have to go out and win. We look forward to having many more of these.”

Griffin III, who sprained his LCL 17 days ago, says his knee is “fine” and he’ll be able to be more mobile this Sunday.

“I’ll be able to do more against the Cowboys than I was against Philly,”  Griffin III said.

The Redskins are not only playing to win their first division title since 1999, but also looking to sweep the Cowboys for the first time since 2005.

“If you play big on the big stages, people tend to write good things about you,”  Griffin III said.  “We all want to play well on the big stage…it’s like a conference championship game in college.”

Redskins Head Coach Mike Shanahan also gave his thoughts on the possible win or go home game on Sunday depending on how the early games work out.

“This is why you coach. This is why you play..these are the games you’ll remember for the rest of your life, win or go home.”

If the Minnesota Vikings lose to the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears lose to the Detroit Lions then the Redskins will get at least a wild card spot if they lose to the Dallas Cowboys, if that doesn’t happen then they have to win on Sunday to make the playoffs.

Tyler Polumbus (concussion), London Fletcher (ankle) and Dezmon Briscoe (missed flight) didn’t practice today.

Polumbus, who didn’t play last Sunday, still hasn’t been cleared.  If he can’t go, then Maurice Hurt will get his second start in a row at right tackle.

“I thought he played great,”  Shanahan said about Maurice Hurt’s game last Sunday.

Fletcher continues to struggle with a sprained ankle, but the injury occurred over a month ago and he hasn’t missed a game.

Briscoe missed his flight back here after leaving for the Christmas holiday, according to Shanahan, he will be fined.

DJ Gomes (second degree MCL sprain) was limited in practice.

The pro bowl rosters will be announced tonight, Shanahan wouldn’t go into the names of players he thinks should be on it, but did have some really good things to say about special teams captain Lorenzo Alexander.

“He’s got a legitimate shot to make it. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t.”
