WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - The popular Massachusetts-based rock band known for hits like “Tessie” and “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” debuted their latest in “The Season’s Upon Us” on Dec. 3 and so far they’ve been floored by its early success.
“The other day it was number one on MTV.com and Rihanna and 50 Cent were behind us,” says lead singer Ken Casey. “Someone said they probably spent $200,000 on those videos and we spent a couple of thousand.”
In traditional Dropkick style, this cheery song captures drunken escapades but is infused with the atmosphere of the holidays spent with family, and all the pressures that brings.
“Everyone’s got a crazy uncle or two,” Casey told WNEW. “Some people are the crazy uncle. I’ve probably been accused of being all of the above.”
The video itself takes a look at that wild side of the holiday season and all the joy those crazy family members and mischievous kids can bring, all set to the Dropkicks signature style of rock.
The band is preparing to release more new music in January 2013.
Their tour brings them to the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. on March 11, 2013.
