LAUREL, Md. (CBSDC) — All lanes of Rt. 198 in Laurel have reopened following a gruesome early morning accident that claimed the life of a 15-year-old boy.
Authorities say the boy was attempting to cross the intersection of Rt. 198 and Russett Green East against a pedestrian traffic signal when he was struck by a Chevy Camaro shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday.
Anne Arundel County Police believe the vehicle had a green light at the time of the accident. The driver remained on the scene.
The teen was taken to Laurel Regional Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, police say.

The roadway was closed for a large portion of the morning commute as police investigated the accident.
