LAUREL, Md. (CBSDC) - A local high school was temporarily locked down following an armed robbery that injured a student Thursday afternoon.
Although class had already been dismissed, school officials locked down the remaining students and staff at Laurel High School around 3 p.m. when a student was injured in an armed robbery right outside its walls.
Police say a student was walking along a wooded footpath behind the school when two assailants held the student up at gunpoint.
Robocalls were made to parents to alert them of the lockdown while police released k-9 units and helicopters to search for the suspects.
The lockdown was lifted when police arrested a two teenage suspects – male and female – shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The victim sustained minor injuries from the altercation.
This happened just two days after another Laurel student was hospitalized for making a credible threat to shoot and kill his classmates.
