LAUREL, Md. (CBSDC) – A student has been hospitalized in Laurel after police say the student made a credible threat to shoot and kill his classmates.
Police say a group of Laurel High School students told a teacher they felt threatened by the student’s behavior. The teacher reported the incident to school security who then contacted local authorities.
Police say they discovered evidence lending credibility to the student’s threat. The parents of the student told officers the child had access to weapons.
The student has been admitted to a local hospital for an emergency psychiatric evaluation.

Police tell WNEW this is a prime example of “see something, say something.”
“We believe he was going to possibly do harm,” police said. “Shoot and kill, among other things.”
This incident comes just days after Adam Lanza gunned down 26 people, including 20 children, Friday morning at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, in one of the worst mass school shootings in American history.
