FT. WASHINGTON, Md. – A man was shot in the back during an attempted home invasion early this morning in Ft. Washington.

Authorities say that the man sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The incident occurred on the 9100 block of Loughran Road just before 2:30 a.m. when a group of suspects forced their way into the home.

They confronted the homeowner and demanded money and jewelry.

A neighbor says she heard two loud bangs at the time of the invasion but didn’t see anything when she looked outside.

The suspects fled the scene before police could arrive.
