ARLINGTON, Va. (CBSDC) — A water main installed during the Calvin Coolidge administration has broken and is causing traffic tie-ups in Arlington.
Columbia Pike is completely shut down between George Mason Drive and Four-Mile Run while crews work to repair the 83-year-old line.
Old pipes have a tendency to rupture during the winter season with big swings in temperature.
Crews picked up the cones surrounding the area shortly after 3 p.m. and all lanes were reopened in time for Tuesday’s evening rush.
