WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is recovering at home after suffering a concussion.
CBS News reports that the U.S. State Department issued a statement Saturday about Clinton becoming dehydrated and fainting, which led to her concussion. The statement said that the outgoing secretary of state has been suffering from a stomach virus.
“She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors,” the statement continued. “At their recommendation, she will continue to work from home next week, staying in regular contact with Department and other officials. She is looking forward to being back in the office soon.”
The concussion comes as reports are beginning to circulate that President Barack Obama will name Mass. Sen. John Kerry to be secretary of state at the beginning of Obama’s second term. Clinton had announced months ago that she would be stepping aside from the post at the beginning of 2013.
